Welcome to Bilinga Nippers & Flippers '

The fun of Surf Life Saving starts when you join Nippers! If you're thinking of introducing your child to lifesaving, then Junior Activities is for you. Lifesaving is something for the whole family to get involved in and there are many supporting roles that you can play as a parent of a child involved in Junior Activities.

Nippers has a minimum age requirement of 5 years to a maximum age of 13 years (age for a season is calculated as of midnight September 30. The Nippers program has been operating in Qld since 1965 and has become one of the most successful children's development and sporting programs in Australia.

Nippers Start at 9am on Sundays and run for 1½ to 2½ hours depending on the Age group. At 8.45am our Junior Activities Co-ordinator speaks to all Nippers about coming events and news for parents so it is important Nippers and their families on the beach at this time.

Membership: The fees for the 2011/2012 Season are: $150 for a FAMILY Membership(Family of 4 + $25 for each family member thereafter) or $55:00 per person.

The Nipper program is focused on participation and fun. Activities include surf safety, surfing, board paddling, board rescue, beach activities, basic resuscitation and first aid. Each age group progresses through a Junior Development Certificate and the program also develops skills in leadership and teamwork. The program is designed to provide an educational experience in a wide range of subjects and skills within the aquatic environment and prepares junior lifesavers for their eventual transition to the patrol environment of the senior movement. The program aims to promote the spirit of camaraderie and citizenship within the community. Before the start of the Junior Activities season each child is required to complete a Preliminary Skills Assessment designed to ensure that each child demonstrates a standard of competence in an aquatic environment.
